DSCC evictions drive continue
The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has continued the eviction drive at capital’s New Market area for the second consecutive day to clear foothpaths.
Mamun Sardar, Executive Magistrate of DSCC, led the drive in the area from 11am to 2pm on Thursday.
Several shops, boxes and temporary installation were removed from the foothpaths during the drive.

He said that, they conducted a drive to evict hawkers from the foothpaths of Chandrima market area today.
“We evicted some 400 shops from the foothpaths on Wednesday (first day of drive),” he said, adding that that the drive would continue five more days.

He, however, said that they also conducted a drive to clean the foothpaths in front of big markets and populated areas gradually.
“No shops would be allowed on the foothpaths,” he added.
