2 killed in Kushtia filling station fire

Two workers were killed in a fire at Dofadar filling station at Satbaria area in Bheramara upazila in Kushtia on Friday night. 

The deceased were identified as Shahjul, 35, of Dighalkandi at Rifayetpur union in Doulatpur upazila and Bijoy, 16, son of Touhidul Islam, of the same upazila.

Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsies. 

Mojibur Rahman, Officer-in-charge of Bheramara Police Station, confirmed the matter to Jago News. 

He said the fire broke out after 7:30pm while unloading fuel oil from a tanker at the filling station. At that time, two workers were burnt to death and another was injured critically. Later, the injured were admitted to a hospital.

Being informed, the fire service workers rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control, the OC said. 

Kushtia Fire Service Deputy Director Jane Alam said, the fire was brought under control with the help of local people. It will be investigated how the fire broke out.
