One gets death, 2 life in Kushtia murder case

A court in Kushtia district on Tuesday sentenced a man to death and two others to life-term imprisonment in a murder case.

The condemned convict is Rafiqul Asad, 34, a resident of Alampur Dattapara village in Sadar upazila of Kushtia while the lifers are Raju Molla, 26, a resident of Boro Kharikhali village and Shariful Islam, 31, of Kayagasi Muktangan residential project area in Jhenaidah district.

Additional District and Session Judge Court-1, Kushtia judge Md Tajul Islam pronounced the verdict this afternoon.

The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each.

District and Session Judge Court, Kushtia public prosecutor Anup Kumar Nandi confirmed the matter.

The case statement said Sujan Sikder, a resident of 2 No. Colony under Jagati union in Sadar upazila, went missing along with his hired auto-rickshaw on March 28, 2016.

On the following day, police recovered his throat-slit body from a garden in Satbaria area of Veramara.

Later, his brother Alamgir Sikder lodged a case with Veramara Police Station in this connection.
