Death of 2 children: Pest control service MD, Chairman arrested

Detectives on Thursday arrested the Managing Director and Chairman of the pest control service over the death of two children at Bashundhara residential area in Dhaka.    

The arrestees are Ashraf, chairman of the company, and its managing director Forhad.

Moshiur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Lalbagh division) of Dhaka Metropolitan DB Police, said being informed they arrested them after conducting drives in Tangail and Brahmanbaria.

The details regarding the arrest of them will be informed later, he said.

Earlier on Tuesday, police arrested the pest control service officer Titu, who sprayed pesticide at the children’s house in Bashundhara’s I-Block area.

According to police and family members, the pest control service staffs sprayed pesticide at the house on June 2. Two days later, the family members returned home and fell ill. They were rushed to the hospital. The two children - Shayyan Mobarat Zahin, 15, and Shahil Mobarat Zayyan, 9 - died on June 4 while undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The children’s father Mobarak Hossain Tushar on June 5 filed a case against three people.
