5 workers burnt in factory blast in Narayanganj

Five workers suffered burn injuries in an explosion at a re-rolling mill in Narayanganj early Saturday.

The incident took place at Sharmin re-rolling mill at Godnail Syedpara in Siddhirganj around 3am. 

The injured are Md Saiful Islam, 30, Md Iqbal Hossain, 25, Mohammad Mozammel Haque, 30, Md Zakaria, 20 and Md Shariful Islam, 32. 

They were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS).

Rafiqul Islam, a colleague of the victims, said they were injured after a gas meter exploded in the mill.  

Fakharuddin Ahmed, Deputy Assistant Director of Narayanganj District Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed the matter to Jago News.

Md Tariqul Islam, Resident Physician of the SHNIBPS, said of the injured, Mozammel suffered 100 percent burn injuries, Saiful 60%, Shariful 57%, Zakaria 35% and Iqbal 30%. They all are in critical conditions.
