14 burnt in Narayanganj explosion

Fourteen people suffered burn injuries in an explosion in a garment factory in Fatulla of Narayanganj on Thursday.

The injured are Mehidy Hasan, 30, Md Zakir Hossain, 26, Md Kamrul, 40, Md Mahbub, 30, Md Shafiq, 28, Md Monir, 28, Md Samsu Mia, 32, Md Ripon, 34, Md Rubel Mia, 19, Zitu, 40, Palash Kanti, 42, Md Mukul, 42, Mithun, 25, and Mukul, 40.

The incident occurred when a gas pipe exploded during welding operations at Crony Apparels in Kashipur area.

After the incident, the injured were brought to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Dhaka, said the facility resident surgeon Dr Tariqul Islam.

Burn injuries of most of them except two were not serious, he said.
