173 Bangladeshis return home after long imprisonment in Myanmar

Some 173 Bangladeshi nationals who were imprisoned in Myanmar for intruding into the country have returned home.

A ship carrying them landed at Nuniarchhara BIWTA ghat in the outfall of Bakkhali River in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday afternoon.

Later, they were handed over to their respective families.

Sources in the Bangladesh Embassy in Yangon said the Bangladeshi nationals had been detained for intruding in Myanmar on different occasions and initiative was taken to send them back after verifying them as Bangladeshi.
