Bangladesh restricts visas for Indians
Bangladesh has reversed its earlier decision to issue visas to Indians indiscriminately and has now imposed restrictions.
A confidential official letter was issued to the Deputy High Commission in Kolkata on Thursday, directing it to implement the new measures. However, no formal announcement has been made regarding this matter.
The directive took effect at the Kolkata High Commission on Friday (December 6). Mission sources confirmed that the instruction to reduce visa issuance was sent from Dhaka to Kolkata, and its implementation began on Friday. However, no such directive has been issued for the missions in Delhi or Assam.
Earlier, following an attack and vandalism at Bangladesh's Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura, the Bangladesh government suspended all operations at the mission and halted all visa issuance processes for Indian nationals there.
