Dengue claims 7 lives in 24 hrs

Seven more dengue patients died and 596 were hospitalised in the country in the last 24 hours.

With this, a total of 96,228 dengue cases and 529 deaths from the mosquito-borne disease were reported from January 1 to December 8 this year, a Directorate General of Health Services press release said on Sunday, December 8.

Of the dead, three were from Dhaka South City Corporation, one from Dhaka North City Corporation, one from Dhaka division, one from Mymensingh, and another from Rajshahi, according to the release.

Last year, the country recorded 1,705 deaths from the disease which was the highest fatality in a year.

Besides, 3,21,179 dengue cases were reported in the same year.
