Anti-Discrimination Student Movement rejects President's invitation
The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, the platform that spearheaded the July-August Uprising, has declined an invitation from President Md Shahabuddin to attend the Victory Day reception at Bangabhaban.
In a message issued on Monday afternoon (December 16), Zahid Ahsan, Cell Secretary (Office Cell) of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, announced the decision.
The statement declared, “The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement is rejecting the invitation from President Md. Shahabuddin, who is associated with the fascist regime, to celebrate the Great Victory Day at Bangabhaban.”
According to the executive committee’s decision, no leader or activist from the organization will participate in the Victory Day celebration at Bangabhaban.
The statement further asserted that celebrating a day of national pride like the Great Victory Day under the invitation of a President linked to fascism contradicts the principles and goals of the ongoing mass movement.
