National poet’s grandson burnt in fire, admitted to ICU
Babul Kazi, the grandson of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, has suffered severe burns in a fire at a house in Banani, Dhaka. It is reported that 75% of his body has been burnt.
The incident occurred around 5:30 am on Saturday. Preliminary reports suggest that the fire was caused by an explosion from a gas lighter.
He was rescued and admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, where he is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Dr Shaon Bin Rahman, a resident physician at the institute, confirmed that a person named Babul Kazi was brought in from Banani with severe burns covering 75% of his body. He is being treated in the ICU.
Dr Shaon further stated that Babul Kazi’s condition is critical, and a medical board will be formed to manage his treatment.
