Police’s all units will wear same uniform: DMP chief

Dhaka Metropolitan Police, DMP, Commissioner Sheikh Sajjad Ali has said there will no longer be separate uniform for different units of Bangladesh Police rather all of the force will wear same uniform.

He shared this information in a view-exchange with the newly elected executive committee members of Crime Reporters Association, CRAB, on Tuesday afternoon, January 21.

“The members of all units of the entire police force will wear the same uniform,” he said. 

Currently, there are separate uniforms for different units of the police.

On Monday, January 20, Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said new uniforms have been finalised for the Police, Rapid Action Battalion, RAB, and Ansar forces.

The decision was made during a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Law and Order at the Secretariat yesterday.

"The decision on the uniforms has been made. We have selected one uniform for the Police, one for the RAB, and one for the Ansar," said the adviser. 

He further added that the new uniforms would be distributed in phases to ensure a smooth transition.
