Mass rally demands reopening of 16 Beximco factories

Thousands of workers held a mass rally in Gazipur city on Tuesday, January 21, demanding the reopening of 16 closed factories inside the Beximco Industrial Park.

The mass gathering took place at the Suncity ground at Kashimpur this afternoon.

They also demanded payment of their arrears and making banking services operational.

Mamunur Rashid, finishing quality in-charge at a Beximco factory, said they will continue holding newer programmes until their demands are met.

Earlier, a meeting at the Ministry of Labour and Employment on December 15 last year decided to close the 16 factories inside the Beximco Industrial Park in Gazipur.

The meeting said it is not possible to operate the factories as there are no new work orders in the entities and these are loan defaulters.
