No bomb found on Biman’s Rome flight
No bomb was found on the Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Rome, the authorities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport confirmed on Wednesday at 12:45 pm.
Earlier in the morning, a special alert was issued at the airport following a bomb threat on the flight.
Airport authorities stated that Biman Bangladesh Airlines operates direct flights from Dhaka to Rome. The BG-356 flight from Rome landed at the airport at 9:20 am, carrying 250 passengers and 13 crew members. However, before landing, the airport authorities were informed that someone aboard the flight had made a bomb threat. Following this information, law enforcement agencies surrounded the aircraft after it landed.
Until 12:30 PM, the aircraft and passengers' luggage were thoroughly checked, but no bomb was found. During this time, all immigration procedures for the passengers were halted, and they were kept in a designated area inside the airport.
Group Captain Mohammad Kamrul Islam, Executive Director of Shahjalal Airport, earlier told reporters that after the plane landed, all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated and escorted to the terminal.
