Commission suggests 12 BCS cadres, 3 PSCs

The Public Administration Reform Commission has recommended the reformation of Bangladesh Civil Service, BCS, and formation of three Public Service Commissions, PSCs, to recruit public servants.

The commission chief, Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, submitted its report to the Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday, February 5. Later, Chief Adviser’s Press Wing published executive summary of the report.

The report said the commission recommended dividing existing BCS cadres into 12 main services which are Bangladesh Administrative Service, Bangladesh Judiciary Service, Bangladesh Public Security Service, Bangladesh Foreign Service, Bangladesh Accounting Service, Bangladesh Audit Service, Bangladesh Revenue Service, Bangladesh Engineering Service, Bangladesh Education Service, Bangladesh Health Service, Bangladesh Agriculture Service, Bangladesh Information Service, and Bangladesh Information Communication Technology Service.

The commission also suggested the formation of three Public Service Commissions, PSCs, which are Public Service Commission (General), Public Service Commission (Education) and Public Service Commission (Health), considering the overall situation, according to the report.

After the country’s independence, two commissions – one is cadre service and another non-cadre service – were formed which was later merged into one.
