Police assoc slams Benazir’s anti-state statements
Benazir Ahmed

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed participated in a conspiracy-laden virtual conference with supporters of the fascist government, during which he made deeply conspiratorial statements against the country and the police force. This information was disclosed by the Bangladesh Police Association, which has strongly condemned and protested against Benazir Ahmed's actions.

A statement, signed by Kamrul Hasan Talukder, President of the Bangladesh Police Association, and Monirul Haque Dablu, General Secretary, revealed these details on Friday, February 7.

The statement mentioned that following the July-August mass uprising, the police force has been working relentlessly with dedication and patriotism to build a new Bangladesh and establish a people-friendly police force to fulfill the public's aspirations.

It also emphasised that police members are fully in agreement regarding the prosecution of controversial officers who had served as subordinates of the fascist government and were involved in crimes such as genocide.

The statement further noted that Benazir Ahmed, a former IGP accused in multiple cases of genocide, corruption, and money laundering, participated in a virtual conference with supporters of the fascist government, where he made conspiratorial statements about the Bangladesh Police Force.

His statement, which is circulating on social media, has been brought to the attention of the Bangladesh Police Association. The association believes the statement severely undermines the professionalism of the police force and its members.

The association condemned and protested his participation in such a conference and the making of such statements, deeming it a deep conspiracy against the country and an act of treason. It further emphasized that the actions of an individual should never reflect upon the entire force.

The statement also referred to Benazir Ahmed’s involvement in the 2013 genocide against Hefazat-e-Islam at Motijheel Shapla Chattar in Dhaka, his links to corruption involving billions of dollars, and the ongoing corruption cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The Bangladesh Police Association expressed deep shock and anger at his actions, strongly condemning his conspiracy-laden activities.
