3 crude bombs recovered in Farmgate, later defused

The Bomb Disposal Unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) recovered three crude bombs from the western side of the Laguna stand near Ananda Cinema Hall in Farmgate, Dhaka, on Saturday (February 8) at around 12:45 om, after a call was made to the national emergency service 999. The bombs were later defused at the old trade fair grounds in Agargaon.
According to police source, after receiving a call via 999, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police discovered a black bag on the footpath near the Laguna stand. Inside, they found three crude bombs wrapped in black scotch tape. The DMP Bomb Disposal Unit safely transported the explosives to the open grounds of the old trade fair in Agargaon, where they were successfully defused.
Md Saiful Islam, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, stated, “We received the information via 999 at around 11:15 am. Later, with the assistance of the Bomb Disposal Unit, we recovered three crude bombs wrapped in black scotch tape inside a black bag at around 1:15 pm.”
Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Azam said, “The three crude bombs were recovered intact and transported to an open field in Agargaon for safe disposal. The Bomb Disposal Unit later defused them.”
Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) of DMP’s Tejgaon Division, Ibne Mizan, confirmed that the three recovered crude bombs from Farmgate were successfully defused by the CTTC Bomb Disposal Unit at the old trade fair grounds in Agargaon.
