Yunus urges vigilance against nationwide violence

Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to the interim government, has urged everyone to remain vigilant against violence across the country.
He stated, "The country cannot progress if violence continues. Those responsible for wrongdoing must seek forgiveness for their actions; only then can we move forward as a nation. Criminals must be brought to justice, while those who are not criminals should be guided towards the right path."
He made these remarks on Monday (February 10) during a financial aid distribution event for the families of those killed and injured in the July uprising, where financial assistance of Tk 10 lakh was provided to each of the families of 21 martyrs and seven injured individuals.
At a press conference held at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital, the Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, shared these details.
The Press Secretary stated that the Chief Adviser emphasised, "Delivering immediate justice often leads to injustice. True justice must be fair and unbiased. This struggle and sacrifice happened because we stood against injustice. If we ourselves resort to injustice, then what difference remains between them and us?"
"We will not resort to injustice. Those who are criminals will be handed over to the police and the law," he asserted.
Dr Yunus further stated that those who are not criminals and should not be handed over to the police must be guided towards becoming responsible citizens. "We will tell them, 'Let’s build this country together. The nation we dream of constructing together should also be your dream. This country belongs not only to me but to you as well. You are a child of this land, just as I am. You have caused me great distress, but I will not seek revenge. Instead, let us work together to transform this country into a prosperous and beautiful nation as soon as possible."
