8 burnt in explosion from gas leak in Narayanganj

Eight people, including four children, suffered burn injuries in an explosion caused by a gas leak in a house in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, early Monday.

The victims have been identified as Sohag, 23; Rupali, 20; Samia, 10; Jannat, 4; Hannan, 50; Sabbir, 12; Nurjahan Laki, 30; and 1.6-year-old Sumaiya.

They were immediately rescued and admitted to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute’s emergency department.

Dr Shaon Bin Rahman, a resident doctor at the institute, confirmed that the eight victims were brought in from Siddhirganj, and most are in critical condition. Hannan has sustained 45% burns, Sumaiya 44%, Rupali 34%, Sabbir 27%, Nurjahan Laki 22%, Samia 9%, and Jannat 3%.
