The condition of former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, has not improved. Although surgery is necessary, it cannot be performed at this time.

Dr Nazrul Hossain provided an update on his condition during a briefing at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital at 11:00 am on Friday. He stated, "Sir’s blood pressure is stable. After receiving blood, his platelet count has increased to over one lakh. His urine output is normal, and his heart condition is stable. However, his brain condition has slightly worsened since last night, and there has been almost no response from him. Therefore, preparations for surgery cannot proceed at this moment. Surgery can only be performed if there is some improvement in his brain condition."

Earlier, around 2:15 pm on Thursday, Arefin Siddique, in good health, withdrew money from the bank. Around 2:30 pm, he collapsed while shopping at a bakery in Dhaka Club. He was immediately taken to BIRDEM Hospital, where tests revealed that he had suffered a head injury and a stroke. He was later transferred to the ICU and put on a ventilator as his condition worsened.
