3 Hizb ut-Tahrir members put on remand

A Dhaka court on Friday, March 7, placed three members of banned organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir on remand in various terms in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Those who were put on remand are Monirul Islam, 40, Mohtasin Billah, 40, and Mahmoodul Hasan, 21. Of them, Monirul was put on a two-day remand and Mostasin and Mahmoodul were placed on a day each.  

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Mohammad Zonaid passed the order after the police produced them before the court, seeking a 10 days remand.

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested them in Dhaka's Uttara in the early hours of today.

CTTC's sub-inspector Alamgir Kabir filed the case with the Uttara West police station.
