A fire erupted in the power car of the Mohanganj-bound Mahua Commuter train near Sat Khamair railway station in Sreepur, Gazipur, on Thursday (April 3) morning.

The train was in motion when the fire broke out and was halted near Sat Khamair station. As a result, train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route have been suspended.

The incident was confirmed by Abul Khair, Station Master of Joydevpur Railway Station in Gazipur.

He said that the train had departed from Dhaka in the morning, passing through Joydevpur Railway Station around 9:30am and later through Sreepur Railway Station via the Dhaka-Mymensingh route.

The fire was detected as the train approached Sat Khamair station, which is currently closed and lacks an immediate communication system. The matter has been reported to Dhaka authorities.

Rezaul Karim, a firefighter from Sreepur Fire Service, confirmed that two fire service units were dispatched to the scene upon receiving reports of the fire.

Efforts to control the blaze are ongoing, and no casualties have been reported so far.
