BCS cadre held for militant link

Members of Crime Investigation Department (CID) of police arrested a Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) cadre for his alleged connection with banned militant group Hizb ut Tahrir Bangladesh at Upshohor area of Jessore town early hours of Friday.

The arrestee was identified as SM Sadiqur Rahman alias Polash, 29, teacher of Economics Department of Jhenaidah Govt. Nurun Nahar Mohila College and a cadre of BCS 34.

Special Superintendent of Jessore and Kushtia CID Shamsul Alam said in an anti militant drive members of CID arrested the Polash along with huge amount of Zihadi books from Upshohor area of Jessore town early hours of Friday.

Polash was involved with Hizb ut Tahrir Bangladesh during his studentship in University of Dhaka and he was arrested by Shahbagh police while he was posturing in 2012, he added.

Later, he joined Jhenaidah Govt. Nurun Nahar Mohila College as 34 BCS cadre hiding his case information.

Police produced him in the court on Friday afternoon.
