Bangladesh leads South Asia in hajj management

Bangladesh has been ranked first in Hajj management among South Asian countries, according to the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB).
The Saudi government released a list post-Hajj, recognising Bangladesh’s exemplary organisation compared to five other South Asian nations, including India and Pakistan.
Returning pilgrims expressed high satisfaction with this year’s arrangements.
As of Sunday, June 15, 2025, approximately 21,000 pilgrims had returned home, according to official figures.
Many had spent 30 to 45 days away from loved ones, dedicating themselves to the spiritual journey of Hajj, seeking forgiveness through the Tawaf around the Holy Kaaba.
At the airport, pilgrims shared positive feedback, reporting no significant issues with the management.
HAAB Secretary General Farid Ahmed Majumdar highlighted the achievement, saying, “This year’s Hajj was exceptionally well-organised. All pilgrims registered in both the Saudi and Bangladesh phases completed their pilgrimage smoothly. Securing first place in South Asia is a significant milestone for us.”
HAAB President Syed Golam Sarwar added, “We worked collectively to enhance Hajj management. This year, there were no reports of distress, disputes, or ticket shortages, ensuring a seamless experience for pilgrims.”
The report also noted a decline in pilgrim fatalities compared to the previous year. As of June 15, 2025, 27 pilgrims, including two women, had passed away, and one individual was reported missing. Approximately 30 others were receiving treatment in various hospitals.
