Railway staff held in connection with rape of passenger at train

A railway employee has been detained in connection with the rape of a woman at a train of 'Rangpur Express' at Kamalapur Railway Station.

The Syedpur Railway Police in Nilphamari detained the man, Saiful Islam, 28, who is train's PA operator and hails from Gaibandha.

Syedpur Railway District Police Superintendent Md Farhat Ahmed confirmed the matter around 3:30pm on Wednesday, June 25.

He said a female passenger was reportedly raped by PA operator Saiful inside the toilet at Rangpur Express train at a platform of Kamalapur Railway Station. Later, the woman informed the Railway Police about the incident.

They both will be dropped at Santahar Railway police station in Bogura and then will be sent to Kamalapur through latter train where a case will be filed in this connection, the official added.
