Biman flight returns to Dhaka after takeoff due to technical issue

A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight bound for Singapore returned to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport shortly after take-off on Friday due to a technical issue.

According to a press release issued by Biman, the flight departed from the airport at 8:38 am on Friday (June 27). Shortly after take-off, upon reaching an altitude of approximately 2,500 feet, the captain reported an engine-related issue and decided to return to Dhaka as a precaution.

The aircraft landed safely at 8:59 am. It was carrying a total of 161 people — 154 passengers and 7 crew members — all of whom were reported safe and in good health.

The statement added that after landing, the runway was inspected by the relevant authorities, but no foreign objects or signs of a bird strike were found.

Biman authorities further stated that a technical review is underway and an appropriate decision will be made regarding the next flight operation.
