The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has written to the deputy commissioners (DCs) of 64 districts seeking details of public funds spent on Mujib Year celebrations and construction of more than 10,000 murals of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman across the country.

Sources in the anti-graft body confirmed the matter to Jago News on Monday, July 21.

The letters sent to the DCs sought how much money has been used to celebrate the Mujib Year, the name of the ministry which spent the money, and the names of the officials involved in the expenses.

The letters said there are allegations that former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana and others wasted around Tk 4,000 crore public funds in the name of celebrating Mujib Year marking Sheikh Mujib Rahman's birth centenary and the construction of more than 10,000 murals and scuptures of him. It is essntial to review the records for fair investigation into the allegations.
