Low-Pressure in Bay: Sea ports asked to hoist signal 3
A low-pressure system has formed over the northern Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas. Due to its influence, the Meteorological Department has instructed all sea ports across the country to hoist local cautionary signal number three.
This information was disclosed in a weather alert issued on Thursday, July 24.
The alert stated that the low-pressure system may intensify further, causing increased air pressure variation over the northern Bay of Bengal. Strong and squally winds are likely to blow over the northern Bay of Bengal, the coastal areas of Bangladesh, and the sea ports.
As a result, the sea ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three.
Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal have been advised to stay close to the coast and navigate cautiously until further instructions are issued.
