Govt to confer state honours on 2 teachers killed in plane crash

The government has decided to confer state honours on two teachers of Milestone School and College — Maherin Chowdhury and Masuka Begum — who died in the recent plane crash.

The decision was made at a regular meeting of the Advisory Council held at the Chief Adviser’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, on Thursday (July 24).

Suchismita Tithi, Assistant Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, confirmed the development.

She said that at the beginning of the meeting, a condolence motion was adopted in memory of those who lost their lives in the crash. A one-minute silence was observed, and prayers were offered for the departed souls.

The meeting also decided that the government would provide all necessary support to the families of the deceased and to the injured for their treatment. To this end, the Ministry of Education will consult with the school authorities to determine the next course of action.
