3 killed in clash over land dispute
Three people were killed and 15-20 others injured as rival groups clashed over land ownership in Kurigram's Rowmari on Thursday morning, July 24.
Nurul Amin, 40, Bolu Mia, 55, and Fulbabu, 50, residents of Bhundur Char area in the upazila, lost their lives during the violence, according to police.
Locals said Shahjahan Mia and Raju Mia, residents of the area, had long been loggerheads over a piece of land and there is a case over the dispute.
Around 10:00am today, the men of Raju Mia obstructed the ones of Shahjahan Mia when they went to the land for irrigation, leading to a violent clash between the two groups.
In the incident, three individuals died on the spot and it is initially learned that they all were supporters of Shahjahan Mia.
A person has been detained in connection with the incident, said Rowmari police station's officer-in-charge Lutfur Rahman.
