Raisa Moni laid to rest as grief engulfs Faridpur village
Raisa Moni, the young victim of the tragic fighter jet crash into Milestone School and College in Uttara, has been laid to eternal rest. She was buried at her village home in Alfadanga upazila of Faridpur on Friday morning. The entire village is mourning the heartbreaking loss.
Since the tragic accident, Raisa Moni’s parents have been inconsolable, overwhelmed with grief.
Her namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayer) was held at the Bajra Eidgah ground in Gopalpur Union, followed by her burial at the Bajra graveyard at around 9:00 am. Her parents, Shahabul Sheikh and his wife Mim, are devastated by the loss of their daughter.

According to family sources, two years before Raisa Moni was born, the couple had been blessed with another daughter, Synthia (13). Later, their youngest son, Rafsan Sheikh (4), was born. The grieving parents had dreamed of providing quality education to their children. With hopes of raising them as educated and good human beings, they enrolled them at Milestone. Raisa was a third-grade student, while her sister Synthia is currently in eighth grade at the same institution.
Obaidur Rahman, a former member of the local Union Parishad, told Jago News that the entire area has been engulfed in grief over Raisa Moni’s untimely death. “It was a heart-wrenching scene when her body arrived at the house. There wasn’t a single person who didn’t cry for her,” he said.

Raisa Moni’s father, Shahabul Sheikh, told Jago News that on the day after the plane crash, on July 22, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) collected DNA samples to identify the victims. Raisa’s body was later confirmed through DNA analysis. “That night, I brought my daughter’s body back to our village home. We reached at dawn,” he added.
The crash occurred on the afternoon of July 21, when a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crashed into the Haider Ali building of Milestone School and College in Diabari, Uttara, causing multiple casualties.
