Man accused in 23 cases hacked dead in Cumilla
A young man was hacked to death by the miscreants on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway at Gouripur bus stand in Cumilla’s Daudkandi on Friday night, July 25.
Dead Md Al Mamun was a resident of Sholakandi village in Titas upazila and an accused in 23 cases, including of murder, drug and extortion, Daudkandi model police station’s officer-in-charge Junayet Chowdhury told Jago News.
Three to four miscreants hacked Mamun with sharp weapons at Gouripur bus stand around 11:30pm and left the scene, said OC Junayet.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and found the youth in a pool of blood, he said, adding that details can be known after investigation.
Locals said Mamun controlled drug dealing and extortion in Gouripur area that might lead to the murder.
Earlier on February 24 this year, the joint forces detained Mamun along with 180 pieces of Yaba and 30 litres of liquor at Gouripur intersection. Later, he was sent to jail following a court order. Subsequently, he came out of prison on bail.
