July martyrs, fighters’ names to be dropped if proven fake: Ministry
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has said that any names proven to be fake will be removed from the official list of July martyrs and fighters, and a revised gazette will be published. Legal action will also be taken against those involved.
The ministry issued the statement on Tuesday (16 September), responding to recent media reports claiming the inclusion of fake names in the list of July martyrs and fighters.
The statement explained that the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs is responsible for publishing the gazette of July martyrs and fighters and managing related benefits. The lists received from the Ministry of Health through the MIS have already been published in the gazette.
Names verified as fake have already been removed, and updated gazettes have been issued. The verification process is ongoing. Additionally, the Directorate of July Mass Uprising is reviewing all names reported by the media as fake. If any are proven false, they will be removed from the official list, and legal measures will be taken against those responsible.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining an accurate and authentic list of July martyrs and fighters.
