Lieutenant General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Adviser to the Ministry of Home Affairs, said that this year’s Durga Puja arrangements are excellent and there are no issues.

He made the remarks on Monday (22 September) at 11:00 am during his visit to the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram in the Misionpara area of Narayanganj city.

Jahangir Alam Chowdhury emphasised that Durga Puja is a religious event and its sanctity must be preserved. Measures have been taken to ensure that people of all religions can participate harmoniously. He added that there are no security risks, and CCTV cameras have been installed at all locations.

Highlighting efforts to promote communal harmony, he said a meeting was held with the Puja committees, during which instructions were given to maintain security around the clock from the start of the festival. Alongside government forces, the committees’ own volunteers will be present, and Ansar personnel will join from 24 September.

He mentioned that this year’s Puja will be very festive and further strengthen communal harmony. To ensure smooth celebrations, a total of Tk 32 lakh and 500 kg of rice for each Puja venue have been provided across various Puja Mandaps in Narayanganj.

The visit was attended by DIG of Dhaka Range Rezaul Karim Mallick, Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah, District Police Superintendent Mohammad Jasim Uddin, and other officials from various levels.
