Six workers sustain burn injuries in Fatullah factory blast
Six workers sustained burn injuries in an explosion at a factory in Fatullah, Narayanganj, on Sunday morning (October 26). The incident occurred at a factory named Fair Apparels Limited. The injured workers were rescued and taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
The injured have been identified as Al Amin (30), Azizullah (32), Selim (35), Jalal Molla (40), Nazmul Huda (35), and security guard Nur Mohammad (35).
Resident Surgeon of the Burn Institute, Dr. Shawon Bin Rahman, said, “The injured are being treated at the emergency department. They have sustained burns ranging from 2% to 28%. Dressing of their wounds is underway. Further details will be provided later.”
According to the workers, they were working in the boiler room on the ground floor of the factory in the morning. Around 8:30 am, an explosion occurred in that room due to a gas line leak, which instantly caused a fire.
Deputy Assistant Director of Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defense, Md Abdullah Al Arefin, said, “The workers were expanding the gas room on the ground floor of the factory when the explosion might have occurred due to a gas leakage. We can provide more details after receiving the investigation report.”
Fatullah Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anwar Hossain said, “We heard that an incident took place at a factory in the morning, but the factory authorities did not inform us. After receiving the news, a police team was sent to the scene. Details will be known after investigation.”
