Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin said all measures will be taken against those who announce plans to resist the election. He added that law enforcement agencies are taking the highest level of preparation to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election.

He made the remarks on Wednesday (26 November) while speaking to reporters after inspecting an election-focused mock exercise organized by the 5th Battalion of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the field.

“Today, I witnessed a very good exercise. It was conducted fully in line with our election culture, considering the types of incidents that usually occur during elections and the overall election process. The BGB has provided training covering all conceivable aspects, and I am extremely pleased with this,” the CEC said.

He added, “Election duty is not regular; it occurs only every four to five years, so special training is essential. The BGB’s regular duties are along the border, but now various law enforcement agencies are receiving election-focused training. The police are conducting such training at 130 centres. I have also seen the exercises of Ansar and VDP; they too are undergoing training. The BGB exercise will play a key role in preparing personnel to perform their duties properly.”

The CEC further said, “Every law enforcement agency is preparing its members responsibly. We hope this training will significantly contribute to maintaining law and order during the elections. Together with all law enforcement agencies, journalists, and 13 crore voters, we aim to ensure a free and fair election.”
