A shocking act of violence erupted inside Gararan Khaliliya Bahumukhi Fazil Madrasa in Sreepur of Gazipur, where a dispute over seating arrangement in examination hall escalated into a stabbing attack – injuring five students, all minors.

The incident occurred around 12 noon on Thursday, November 27, shortly after the day’s exam ended. Witnesses said a class IX student – still angered by a quarrel the previous day over seating arrangements – returned armed with a sharp weapon and suddenly attacked the class X students.

Terrified students scattered as five boys suffered stab wounds.

They were rushed to the Sreepur Upazila Health Complex, where doctors referred three critically injured students to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital.

“All five had stab injuries. Three needed advanced care,” said duty doctor Nasrin Zaman.

Police confirmed they are treating the matter as a criminal offence despite no written complaint yet.

“This is a cognizable crime. Investigation has already begun, and efforts are underway to detain the accused student,” said Sreepur Police Station OC Mohammad Abdul Barik.

The madrasa authorities have not commented publicly, but panic and shock have gripped students and guardians as a trivial seating dispute spiraled into life-threatening violence.
