Khaleda’s condition slightly improving: Mahfuj

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital, remains in a stable and slightly improving condition, Information Adviser Mahfuj Alam has said.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday (30 November) night after visiting the hospital, he said, “I came to check on Khaleda Zia on my own initiative. Considering the contributions she has made to the country and the sacrifices she has rendered, I, like the people of the nation, have prayed for her swift recovery.”

He said that after speaking with the doctors, he learnt that Khaleda Zia’s condition has remained stable over the past few days and that there has been slight improvement as well. The doctors are hopeful that her physical condition will improve further in the coming days.

Highlighting Khaleda Zia’s importance in the country’s democratic transition, the adviser added, “Because of her sacrifices and contributions, we hope she will recover further and witness the country’s democratic reconstruction process. We want to build a new Bangladesh with those who played a role in the July uprising.”

At the time, he also spoke about BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s return to the country. Mahfuj Alam said that the current government is prepared to provide all kinds of assistance regarding Tarique Rahman’s return.
