An earthquake struck again in Narsingdi on Thursday (4 December) at around 6:15 am. The tremor, with its epicentre in the district, measured 4.1 on the Richter scale.

This is the fifth earthquake in the district in just 14 days, heightening fear among residents. However, no major damage has been reported from today’s quake.

Earlier, on 21 November, a 5.7-magnitude earthquake in Narsingdi left five people dead, injured more than a hundred, and damaged over a hundred government and private structures.

Local resident Chhobi Saha said, “We were all asleep in the morning when suddenly the entire house, along with the furniture, started shaking. After several tremors, we realized it was an earthquake and rushed outside in fear.” She added, “Since the epicentre is Narsingdi and several tremors have already occurred, our panic has increased many times over.”

Another resident, Shubhrajeet, said, “The repeated earthquakes in Narsingdi are leaving us traumatised. We are shocked and confused—we don’t know what to do.”

Resident Swapan Mia said, “I was asleep during the quake, so I didn’t fully understand what was happening at first. Now I am scared, thinking about what might happen if these quakes continue.”

Attempts to contact the Narsingdi Meteorological Office for comments were unsuccessful.

Notably, the earthquake was also felt in the capital and surrounding areas. Assistant Meteorologist Farzana Sultana of the Meteorological Department confirmed the information to Jago News.

Earlier, on 21 and 22 November, four earthquakes were recorded over two days. Among them, the quake on 21 November measured 5.7 on the Richter scale, causing widespread panic among residents.
