Gun attack on Hadi: Police seek public help to trace suspect

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has sought public assistance to identify and locate a suspect involved in the attack on Sharif Osman Hadi, an independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency and Inqilab Moncho’s spokesperson.

The DMP, in a statement issued on Saturday, December 13, urged anyone with information about the person seen in CCTV footage, or who may locate him, to inform the authorities concerned immediately.

Information about the suspect can be shared through the emergency number 999, or by contacting DC Motijheel at 01320040080 and OC Paltan at 01320040132. 

The police assured that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential and that a reward will be provided for credible information leading to the suspect's identification or arrest. 

Investigators have initially identified a suspected individual from CCTV footage and are urgently searching for him. A massive operation has been launched across the city to apprehend those responsible for the attack.

Earlier, Sharif Osman Hadi sustained critical injuries after two assailants on a motorcycle fired shots at his head on Box Culvert Road in the capital's Bijoynagar area on Friday, December 12.

Hadi is now receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital.
