Namaz-e-janaza of 6 Bangladeshi peacekeepers held

The namaz-e-janaza of six Bangladeshi peacekeepers, who were killed in a terrorist attack on a UN base in Sudan, has been held at the Dhaka Cantonment.

The namaz-e-janaza took place at the Army Central Mosque premises around 9:30 am on Sunday, December 21.

Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, officials and members of the armed forces, and the victims' families, attended the prayers.

Earlier, the bodies of the six Bangladeshi peacekeepers arrived in Dhaka on Saturday, December 20.

The martyred peacekeepers are Corporal Md Masud Rana from Natore, soldiers Md Mominul Islam and Shanto Mondal from Kurigram, soldier Shamim Reza from Rajbari, mess waiter Mohammad Jahangir Alam from Kishoreganj, and laundry worker Md Sobuj Mia from Gaibandha.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement on December 14 said a separatist armed group carried out a drone attack on the Kadugli Logistics Base in the Abyei area of Sudan on December 13.

In the attack, six Bangladeshi peacekeepers on duty were martyred, and nine others were injured.
