5 die as truck rams auto-rickshaw in Kushtia

Five people, including three women, were killed as a truck rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Kushtia on Saturday afternoon, February 21.

Among the dead, four were identified as Amena, Kamela, Jakaria and Ashraful.

Kushtia highway police's in-charge, Md Abu Obaid, confirmed the matter of five deaths.

Locals said a truck carrying gas cylinders hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction on the bypass road in the district town around 2:00 pm, leaving three individuals dead on the spot and two others injured.

The truck and the auto-rickshaw were seized; however, the truck driver managed to escape, according to the police.
