A brief speech by Rangpur’s Deputy Commissioner, Enamul Ahsan, has triggered widespread discussion and criticism after he addressed Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu as “Sir” more than 50 times in just two minutes.

The incident took place on Tuesday (March 24) during a discussion titled “Equitable Regional Development and Industrialisation Potential,” held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room in Rangpur.

A video of the speech, which has been circulating on social media, shows the DC repeatedly using the term “Sir” in nearly every sentence while presenting various development proposals and initiatives for the region. The excessive repetition in such a short speech has drawn criticism, with many attendees reportedly expressing irritation.

The meeting was chaired by Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Shahidul Islam, while Prime Minister’s adviser Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir attended as a special guest.

Lawmakers from Nilphamari and Gaibandha, senior police officials, political leaders, business representatives, civil society members, and journalists were also present.
