Ruhul Quddus appointed new Attorney General
Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal has been appointed as the 18th Attorney General of Bangladesh.
The appointment was announced on Wednesday, officials confirmed, adding that a gazette notification is being prepared by the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
Reacting to the news, Kazal expressed his gratitude in a brief post on his verified Facebook profile, writing “Alhamdulillah”.
Kazal is a member of the BNP National Executive Committee and the Bangladesh Bar Council. He previously served as secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
Hailing from Maheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah, he was also a member of the BNP Central Election Committee formed ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections. He later led a team under the party’s legal assistance sub-committee.
A former student of the Law Department at Dhaka University, Kazal became a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association in 1996. He also worked as a journalist earlier in his career.
