Tag officers appointed at 22 filling stations in Gaibandha
The district administration in Gaibandha has appointed tag officers at 22 filling stations to ensure transparency in fuel sales and prevent illegal activities such as smuggling and unauthorised distribution.
An official order, signed by Nezarat Deputy Collector (NDC) Sabbir Ahmed, was issued in this regard on Monday, March 30.
According to the order, one designated official has been assigned as a tag officer for each filling station. The initiative aims to stabilise the fuel market and reduce consumer hardship by strengthening monitoring mechanisms.
The appointed tag officers will closely supervise the overall operations of the respective filling stations. Their responsibilities include maintaining and verifying daily stock registers, ensuring proper receipt and accounting of fuel supplied from depots, measuring fuel levels using dipsticks, monitoring meter readings and sales records, and conducting inspections at least three times a day.
The order further stated that the move has been taken in line with directives from the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources to maintain stability in the local fuel market.
Sabbir Ahmed said that the initiative is intended to make the fuel supply and distribution system more transparent and ensure that consumers can purchase fuel at government-fixed prices.
