A total of twenty-six new suspected measles cases have been reported over the past 24 hours in Chattogram, according to the Civil Surgeon’s Office.

The latest update, released on Tuesday, March 31, indicates that the total number of suspected cases in the district has risen to 55. No new cases were reported from one upazila during the same period.

Laboratory tests conducted by the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) and the Institute of Public Health (IPH) in Dhaka have so far confirmed measles in eight individuals, six from the city and two from upazilas.

Civil Surgeon Dr Jahangir Alam said that 16 additional samples have been sent for testing, including six from urban areas and 10 from upazilas.

In total, 91 samples have been collected and submitted for laboratory analysis.

Health authorities noted that the NPHL and IPH in Dhaka are the only authorized laboratories in the country for measles testing.
