BMU urges use of online appointments to cut outpatient crowding
Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) has called on patients to use its online appointment system and arrive with printed tickets in an effort to reduce overcrowding at its outpatient departments.
BMU Vice-Chancellor (administration) Professor Dr Md Abul Kalam Azad and Hospital Director Brigadier General Irtika Rahman made the appeal on Wednesday, April 1.
The university's Public Relations Officer (PRO) Prashanta Kumar Majumder confirmed the matter.
Under the system, patients can book appointments through BMU’s website and print their tickets to receive consultations at designated times, eliminating the need to wait in long queues. The initiative aims to streamline patient flow, save time, and reduce inconvenience for service seekers.
Officials said that nearly 100,000 people had accessed healthcare services through the online ticketing system by March 31. Currently, around 1,500 to 2,000 patients use the service daily, completing ticket payments through digital platforms via the university’s website (www.bmu.ac.bd).
