2,45,543 tonnes of fuel to be imported this month: Minister
Energy, Power, and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku has announced that 2,45,543 tonnes of petrol, diesel, and octane will be imported this month.
He stated that, despite global fuel supply instability, the government is working to ensure a steady supply of all types of fuel in the country.
The minister made the remarks on Tuesday (April 7) while responding to an urgent public matter raised under Rule 71 of parliamentary procedure by Md Shawkatul Islam, MP for Moulvibazar-2, in the Jatiya Sangsad.
Highlighting the current stock situation, he said diesel stocks stand at 164,644 tonnes, with another 138,000 tonnes expected to arrive by April 30. Octane stocks are 10,500 tonnes, with an additional 71,543 tonnes scheduled to arrive by the same date. Petrol stocks currently total 16,000 tonnes, with another 36,000 tonnes expected within April.
