8,000 more tonnes diesel arrive from India
Bangladesh has imported another 8,000 tonnes of diesel from India through the Bangladesh-India Friendship Pipeline.
The consignment sent from Numaligarh Refinery Limited centre in Assam reached the Railway Head Oil Depot in Parbatipur of Dinajpur, Quazi Md Rabiul Alam, manager (operations) of Meghna Petroleum Limited, confirmed on Saturday afternoon, April 11.
The process of receiving the 8,000 tonnes of diesel was completed in the early hours of today, and preparations are underway to bring 5,000 more tonnes of diesel through the pipeline on April 17.
Sources said the government planned to import 40,000 tonnes of fuel from India in four shipments in April, and of them, 8,000 tonnes of the first consignment have already arrived.
Earlier, 22 tonnes of diesel were imported from the neighbouring country through pipeline in the first three months of this year.
