Khaleda’s bail extended till July 19

The High Court on Thursday extended bail until July 19 for BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

A HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice MD Mustafizur Rahman passed the order after Khaleda’s lawyer pleaded for her bail extension.  

Earlier, HC granted four months bail for Khaleda in the case. 

Confirming the news, Barrister Moudud Ahmed said that the court deferred the hearing in the case till July 15. 

Advocate A J Mohammad Ali and Abdur Rezak Kahn stood for Khaleda in the court while Advocate Khurshid Alam for State.

On February 8, the Dhaka Special Court-5 convicted the former Prime Minister and BNP chairperson and sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

She was then sent to old central jail at Nazimuddin Road in the city.
